'Une autre image de la Palestine à travers une danse vitale et joyeuse dans une irrésistible énergie collective. En à peine une heure, Badke nous livre un spectacle de danse étonnant et étourdissant porté par dix danseurs palestiniens.'
Un remix est une version modifiée d'un morceau musical existant. Badke(remix) revisite le spectacle de danse porté avec 10 danseurs palestiniens dans le monde entier entre 2013 et 2016 et créé par Koen Augustijnen, Rosalba Torres et Hildegard De Vuyst. La réédition de Badke est désormais artistiquement entre les mains de Palestiniens, notamment d'Amir Sabra et d’Ata Khatab, et le spectacle est rebaptisé Badke(remix).
Le titre est une inversion intentionnelle de dabke, le nom d’une danse traditionnelle palestinienne et le point de départ de la performance. Issus de la dabke traditionnelle, de la danse contemporaine, du hip-hop, de la capoeira ou du cirque, les artistes palestiniens proposent une version contemporaine de cette danse traditionnellement réservée aux célébrations (de mariage). Badke(remix) met en scène la pulsion de vie et l’envie de danse comme des formes de résistance.
Dans Badke(remix), une version contemporaine de la variante vernaculaire et non académique est pleinement choisie, une explosion de joie, une expression de vitalité qui parle de connexion, une affirmation d'appartenance à quelque part. Cette corporéité que les danseurs partagent est rare dans la danse contemporaine, plus souvent le reflet de l'individualité et la réflexion. Au cœur de la dabke « sociale » se niche une unicité que les danseurs palestiniens peuvent fièrement montrer au reste du monde.
Mais Badke(remix) n'est pas une quête d'une authenticité perdue. D’où le désir des créateurs d’y intégrer des formes mondialisées d'art populaire telles que la capoeira, le cirque, le hip-hop et même des références aux films de Walt Disney. Badke(remix) devient à la fois l’expression vitale d’une appartenance collective à un lieu et du désir de faire partie du monde. Quelle quantité d'informations contemporaines la dabke peut-elle tolérer ? Pouvons-nous donner une tournure différente à cette danse folklorique presque canonisée ? Dans quelle mesure la tradition peut-elle s’accommoder d’une certaine flexibilité ? Et comment remettre en question la danse folklorique sans effrayer les gens ? Telles sont les questions qui se posent.
Par ailleurs, sous l'occupation, la cohésion devient souvent compulsive alors que les tensions mutuelles s'enveniment ; le contrôle social est souvent paralysant pour les aspirations individuelles ; la profession de danseur n'est guère considérée comme étant supérieure à celle de travailleur du sexe (et il n'y en a pas !). Nous en aurions presque oublié la violence. Cette autre réalité vient percer la surface joyeuse de Badke, comme autant de rafales de vent froid qui s’engouffrent dans les interstices d'une maison mal isolée. Mais au bout du compte, une seule pensée prévaut : nous n'allons pas nous laisser faire. Nous danserons jusqu'à ce que nous tombions.

Public images
During events organised by laGeste, an ambience photographer is regularly present. These pictures may be published on our website, through social media and in our printed material. These are mainly pictures of the artists and pictures of the audience. Sporadically you may be recognisable as a spectator in one of the photos. All photos are stored on laGeste's secure server.
Very occasionally, events are filmed. This footage can be used via social media or edited into a promotional film afterwards. It may happen that members of the public are recognised in this, although we do not focus on faces.

WHAT RIGHTS DO YOU HAVE?
