Bijloke Wonderland 2026

Bijloke Wonderland 2026 takes place from 20 to 30 August at the Bijlokesite in Ghent. The festival offers a rich programme of music, dance, theatre, visual arts and guided tours for audiences of all ages.

As part of Bijloke Wonderland 2026, laGeste presents developed@laGeste, a showcase of artistic projects that have taken shape within the walls of its dance studio. Through this initiative, we highlight our studio programme and reveal the diversity of voices, stories and artistic practices that have been nurtured there.

From 20 to 30 August, this commitment to artistic development culminates in a varied programme of premieres, work-in-progress presentations and previews. Developed@laGeste features, among others, the Ghent premiere of Everything brings us back to the body by Ehsan Hemat, Within This Party, Amir Sabra’s improvisation-driven solo work, a sneak preview of Revue Revanche, the new creation by Valentina Tóth, and a work-in-progress presentation of As We Are Passing, the debut creation by Misha Demoustier. The programme also includes the premiere of Rakke by Louis Thuriot and Patricia George, a work-in-progress presentation of Roz v Roz by Rosslyn Wythes, and the performance Macc(h)abées by Sophie Warnant.

The programme is complemented by a symposium exploring the role of artistic development within the performing arts. Participating artists of our programme Bijloke Wonderland 2016, Lisaboa Houbrechts and Zoë Demoustier will engage in a conversation about the conditions necessary for artistic work to grow and evolve. Drawing on their own practices, they will share experiences and reflect on the needs associated with processes that often remain invisible to audiences, yet are essential to sustainable artistic creation.

With developed@laGeste, laGeste seeks not only to present finished work, but also to emphasise the importance of the process that leads to it. Looking ahead, developed@laGeste aims to become a distinctive label for artistic development within the performing arts.
