RAKKE - Connection through conflict?

Louis Thuriot & Patricia George

info production

Rakke (a West Flemish dialect word meaning 'quarrel') by Louis Thuriot (dance) and Patricia George (accordion) is a physical and musical collision between mother and son. Rakke is inspired by their personal conflicts. Tensions quickly erupt into a symphony of anger, pain and frustration that effortlessly shifts into a loud cacophony. What follows is release: shame, sadness and fear.

Family conflicts often persist because old patterns keep repeating. Unspoken expectations, tensions between freedom and control, or a child having been given too much responsibility all play a role. The changing roles between parent and child also make it difficult to recognize or break these patterns. An honest and personal story, relatable to many.

In February 2025, Louis Thuriot and Patricia George created a short version of Rakke, which received several awards, including at RIDCC in the Netherlands, the Hannover Choreography Competition in Germany, and the first prize at Linkage in Bulgaria.
