- Ghent (BE), Bijlokesite
A delightful musical mash-up!
Lisi, Pierre and Klaus rehash dance, language and drawing into a playful and colourful new world.
After a some nice performances during Bijloke Wonderland, The Refectory and Crudo are coming back at the beginning of the Christmas period.
On 20, 21 and 22 December you can combine the 2 performances and you will end up in special places of the Bijloke site in Ghent: The Refectory in the beautiful Abbey refectory of the old Bijlokesite (part of STAM) and Crudo in the unique setting of the anatomical theatre of Muziekcentrum De Bijloke.
The Refectory
A new musical adventure by the laGeste choir conducted by Steven Prengels. The choir with some 70 members came into existence as part of the production Mein Gent, but in the meantime also leads a life of its own. The choir sang for the birth of laGeste in De Materniteit, and participated in parades and productions.
Steven Prengels wrote challenging new music to assembled texts by Goethe, Verlaine, Lord Tennyson and Kurt Schwitters with Liszt, Bach and more Bach and ... Sia as musical inspirations.
CRUDO
Crudo is a collaboration between dancer-choreographer Lisi Estaras, art brut curator Pierre Muylle and visual artist Klaus Compagnie.
What connects them: their interest in art brut or outsider art. Which is the name used to refer to art by people who do not consider themselves artists, art by people with mental disabilities, psychiatric patients, hermits, eccentrics, obsessive collectors, etc.
Crudo begins as a lecture but turns into a performance that seeks equivalence.
Lisi, Pierre and Klaus rehash dance, language and drawing into a playful and colourful new world.
