Wim Auwerx

“In O Amor Natural, I want to explore the space between charisma, appearance and attraction.
I am interested in the tensions between love & hate,
dominant & submissive, tender & violent, accepting & refusing."

Wim Auwerx
(°1977) has been spastic on all four limbs since birth.
He attended secondary school at MPI Sint-Lodewijk in Kwatrecht. At UGent, he obtained a master's degree in moral sciences and an advanced master's degree in journalism. After his studies, he worked for seven years at Electrabel-GDF SUEZ (Internal Communication, Marketing & Sales). On a voluntary basis, he was and still is active in organisations advocating for people with disabilities.

For example, he was a founding member of Boccia Gent (G-working of the Royal Petanque Club Schorpioen) and a member of the Board of Directors and the Daily Board of Focus-Plus vzw (an independent living service for people with disabilities that merged with a number of WZCs to form Exalta in 2020). He is a director and active member of Dito vzw (Association of Persons with Disabilities) and has been on the board of swimming club BOAS since 2011. He is a travelling, culinary bon vivant who finds an outlet in swimming and supporting KAA Gent.

Since last year, he has also been an enthusiastic participant in inclusive dance workshops, including at laGeste. And took part in
Ballrooms, a project by Andrew Graham at laGeste.
