Silas Martens

Silas Martens is a freelance dancer, performer, and maker. Growing up in a family of dancers, he began his journey in dance at the age of six. He entered professional training at the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp, where he graduated in 2020.

After his graduation, Silas took a break from dance to pursue a career as a sponsored skateboarder. However, he could not resist the strong pull of dance and eventually returned to the studio. He is currently finishing his Bachelor's degree in contemporary dance at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp.

During his time at the Conservatory, Silas was part of a several projects, including Opus #5 by Iñaki Azpillaga, Crowd by Ben Fury, and To Bloom by Amanda Piña. He has also worked on the repertoire of notable choreographers such as Jan Martens and Wim Vandekeybus.

In addition to his academic work, Silas has participated in independent projects, by Nadav Perlman in the short film Silent Water and Tohu Vavohu in collaboration with Rino Sokol. He has also been creating his own pieces, including the solo works Gate to River and Der Stücke and a piece for four dancers called Das Stück Mit Dem Fahrrad.
