Amir Sabra

“I will come back to something that I am interested in exploring, I have nothing
in mind and don't want to fake something for the sake of giving you something.”

Amir Sabra grew up in Askar, a refugee camp near Nablus.
Amir is a Palestinian dancer and choreographer living in Ireland. He started as a breakdancer with Hawaieh dance group and later participated in several productions by les ballets C de la B (BE), KVS (BE), A.M Qattan Foundation (PS) and Pokemon Crew (FR).

As a child, he looked up to the Samahneh brothers, both also in Badke (les ballets C de la B (BE), KVS (BE), A.M Qattan Foundation (PS), who used to smuggle all kinds of contemporary elements into the traditional dabke during weddings: elements from hip-hop, popping, locking, etc. When Badke was remade in the West Bank in 2015 with a new generation of young dancers, Amir did not hesitate to join in, together with a whole host of peers. Today, they make up the core of the dance collective Stereo 48.

Amir started as a choreographer in 2017 with Hiphopgeez. In 2019, he choreographed the piece Journey to Jerusalem. In 2020, he directed False Awakening, a short dance film. In 2021, he danced in Floating on the Dead Sea by Catherine Young Dance.
Within This Party
is his first solo, made in 2022, while his latest piece What Did You Do Behind the Curtain won the Technical Prize at Danse élargie (Théâtre de la Ville Paris).

Amir is part of the cast of O amor natural, a performance by Andrew Graham that will premiere in January 2025. Together with Ata Kathab, he is creating the remake of Badke in 2025, becoming Badke(remix). A production by laGeste and Stereo For Arts & Culture planned for June 2025.
