Marah Haj

Marah Haj is a dancer, actress, and creator from Kofor Yassif in occupied Palestine. Currently based in Antwerp, she graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Dance from the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, followed by a Master's degree in Drama from KASK in Ghent in 2023.
By blending these two disciplines, Marah challenges the boundaries that separate text from movement, while also exploring how both can coexist within the performative space. In her work, Marah investigates the definition of mother tongue within a multilingual context, investigating the power dynamics that exist between languages.

In 2023, she was awarded the Roel Verniers Prize by Het Theaterfestival for her solo performance Language: no broblem.
In addition to creating her own work, Marah has collaborated with renowned choreographers and theater directors such as Alain Platel & Bérengère Bodin, Kris Verdonck, Tuur Marinus, Frank Dierens, and Need Company. Currently, she is performing in Persians by Chokri Ben Chikha/Action Zoo Humain.
